First off, the quilt top was purchased off of eBay! Isn’t it great? The piecing was beautiful on it, and the price was right. I’ve discovered many pretty quilt tops can be purchased on eBay, and I have purchased 6-7 of them!
If you do not have time to piece a quilt yourself or the knowledge to piece one, you can find many great quilt tops for sale on eBay. I found out that senior centers are making and selling quilt tops on eBay. So, if you are interested in buying a quilt top, that is a wonderful place to look and a wonderful way to help seniors!
As I said, I snatched this little cutie up as soon as I could! I knew it would make a great wall hanging and could not wait to see it quilted. I purchased fabric for the backing from JoAnn’s. It doesn’t match the colorful sashing, but the colors were pretty much the same. So, it was used for backing and binding of the quilt. I used a swirly heart design to quilt it edge-to-edge. I was very happy with the results! What do you think?
As an aside, I decided to donate this quilt to Kindness Over Muscular Dystrophy. This organization was started by the son and daughter-in-law of my cousin who has darling twin sons…one of whom has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. They also have a younger 3rd son. They have decided to advocate for their son by starting this organization to spread awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research and therapies. They are having a big fund raiser at Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford, NY on June 4th. Tickets are available at www.parentprojectmd.org. Please contact them if interested in bidding on this quilt!
