I titled this blog entry “Children’s Themed Quilts”. But, honestly, I know a number of adults who would like some of these quilts! One is never too old, right?
A former colleague asked me to quilt the mouse quilt for her. I had found the quilt on Ebay and had posted it on Facebook. The colors in the piece were striking, and the piecing was very good! I just could not see this quilt quilted in anything but red! And, I used a star theme and candy theme for the quilting motifs. It was such a fun quilt top to quilt!
The space quilt was a quilt top I made from a kit I purchased at JoAnn’s Fabrics and made for my grandson. I was able to find space quilting motifs to quilt the top in, and had so much fun making and quilting this top.
I am including both of these quilts in this blog to show how interesting and fun children’s themed quilts can be. The mouse quilt involved quite elaborate piecing. The space quilt involved some piecing, but it was done around a panel which was provided in the kit. I did another quilt for my granddaughter for Christmas which was a Doc McStuffins fabric panel. It involved absolutely no piecing and quilted up beautifully in an edge to edge design. The space quilt was also quilted in an edge to edge design. The mouse quilt was custom quilting.
All 3 quilts quilted beautifully. But, I wanted to point out how pretty edge to edge quilting is. Both options are great! But, if you are looking for a quick and more economical quilt, do consider edge to edge quilting!
