It’s been a while since I last posted, but I’ve been busy! I can’t wait to show you the cutest little wholecloth quilt I made for my niece as a thank you for all the work she and her husband have done on my website. All the greatness of this site I owe to them!
I told my niece I would love to make her a quilt and asked if she would be interested. She found this simple little pattern on a site called purlsoho.com. There were several variations, but all were basically the same…parallel lines about 2-3 inches apart. They had the instructions on the site for a lap quilt, baby quilt and crib size quilt. I made the lap quilt size.
The fabric she had fallen in love with was called mineral linen and was also available in several colors on this same site. All I can say is that the pictures do not do this fabric justice. It is a beautiful piece of linen with a finish on one side of the fabric that gives it a shiny or metallic sheen. I must say I fell in love with it as well!
Since I am a longarm quilter I did not follow the directions given by the site, but translated it into longarm speak. The attached pictures will give you a glimpse of how it turned out! I was able to bring it to my niece and her husband when I traveled West for a family wedding a couple of weeks ago, and I think they were pretty happy with the result!
Check out the fabric and pattern on purlsoho.com. If anyone would like a quilt like this one, please let me know. I would be happy to make one for you!
